What qualifications must a court interpreter meet?
A court interpreter is a professionally qualified person registered in the list of interpreters and translators maintained by the Ministry of Justice and is authorised to interpret in courtrooms, police interrogations, notarial acts and other situations where precise communication between speakers of different languages is required. In the Czech Republic, this profession is regulated by Act No. 36/1967 Coll., which defines the requirements for both court interpreters and court translators who specialize in the written translation of legal documents.
